YouTube Shorts Fund of $100 Million
Just as YouTube beating all other rival platforms in terms of free video entertainment, it now wants its Shorts to be the same. For this, YouTube announced a $100 million rewarding program called YouTube Shorts Fund, where it would pay out all the top-performing creators over the course of 2021 and 2022. YouTube’s TikTok clone is performing fine in the US, but not much to beat the actual TikTok. Besides, rivals like Snapchat and Instagram have rewarding programs to encourage creators. Thus, it’s no wonder YouTube is launching the same. To get rewarded, the creators don’t need to be involved in the YouTube Partner Program but create creative, unique, and engaging Shorts content. Apart from this, YouTube didn’t especially mention what basis they’d pick creators to pay. But, they said to be sharing more details on this in the coming months. All that the creators should be doing is to make videos that adhere to community guidelines. YouTube itself will be reaching out to them based on their popularity. YouTube says it will grow to the community’s feedback, increase the fund capacity in the future, and try testing ads across the platform. Apart from this fund, YouTube has also introduced few new features to the Shorts Beta as follows;
Record up to 60 seconds with the Shorts camera. Automatically add captions to your Short. Add basic filters to color correct your Shorts, with more effects to come in the future. Add clips from your phone’s gallery to add to your recordings made with the Shorts camera.
